InAmigos Foundation’s Project Udaan – Empowering Women for a Better Tomorrow

Udaan Amigos Foundation Project provides education and skill acquisition to rural women in India to make them economically independent. It was founded by an Indian Non-Governmental Organization, Amigos Foundation, located in Chhattisgarh.

Mission

This 'Udaan' project launched by the NGO named InAmigos Foundation back in 2020 is meant to help the disadvantaged community of women gain skills in activities like tailoring, crafting, computer skills, and financial literacy. The idea behind this mission is to help these women economically and make them confident, aware about menstruation, and thus able to overcome the limitations of society.

Key impact

Over 900 women have been educated so far in this project Udaan and it has led to more than 150 micro-enterprises including sewing services, beauty parlors, and online centers. The result of this program is that many of these women have become the main providers of income for their respective families. They have gained financial stability and also been able to afford education. Other key impacts of the project include community involvement, health awareness workshops on self-defense and nutrition, among others.

Success Stories

Beneficiary Shirin helped establish employment for ten other women by setting up an entrepreneurial venture following training under Udaan. Through a series of unfortunate events, Kavita capitalized on them and made a business which would cater to her personal needs and become an inspiration for her village. A beneficiary from Chhattisgarh, Meena Devi, moved from housewife to professional after training in digital literacy, conducting workshops in the area.

Future Goal

InAmigos intends to train over 5,000 women in more than 10 states by 2026 through the provision of training units that are portable. Some of the areas to be trained include digital technology, improved corporate partnerships through CSR initiatives, and marketing linkages to help sustain the micro-enterprises.
